Bengaluru: In the face of strong opposition from parents and student organisations, the Karnataka Pre-University Board has postponed midterm board tests for class 12 students. Exams for the midterm board will now be held between December 13 and 24. Exams were originally slated to begin on November 29.

Fearing the third wave of Covid-19, the department has scheduled midterm board exams. Due to the pandemic, the yearly exams were cancelled. Based on midterm exams and SSLC (class 10) scores, the results were announced. Students, parents, instructors, and student organisations, however, were all against the decision. They complained about missing assignments and other issues that could damage their grades.

Teachers were asked by the department to finish the syllabus and submit a report in this regard. They are also required to take one hour of supplementary classes for students, particularly those in the scientific stream. The task of grading response papers had been delegated to the different college principals. The department is also receiving feedback from the teaching community on matters of syllabus.

The department also instructed PU college administrators to update student attendance and unit exam results on a regular basis. It has also been told to finish grading midterm test answer papers by December 31 and submit results to the department.
