NEW DELHI: Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister of Delhi, on Monday officially opened the much-awaited Ashram flypver extension. Upon the opening, Kejriwal said, "Woes of people have ceased, and those travelling from Noida can reach AIIMS sooner."

Arvind Kejriwal also slammed the tardy pace of work during previous years, saying 27 flyovers have been built under the rule of his Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Delhi but only 84 flyovers were built in the last 65 years.

Notably, after the opening of the Ashram flypast expansion, vehicles will soon be able to cross the road by making a U-turn to travel to Maharani Bagh or south Delhi instead of using the current long path from Kilokari to Ring Road.

It is advised to use the Ashram Flypast rather than the Barapulla Flypast for only light vehicles travelling from Gurugram, Chirag Delhi, Kalkaji, Khanpur, Greater Kailash, Saket, AIIMS, INA, Sadarjung, and Dhaula Kuan sides to the Sarai Kale Khan, Gaziabad, DND, Noida, and Trans-Yamuna sectors.

Buses, lorries, and other large vehicles are currently prohibited from using the Ashram Flyover's two lanes of traffic until more information is available. It is urged that commuters from Sarai Kale Khan avoid using the recently reopened Ashram Flypast.

There won't be any significant detours for cars travelling from Maharani Bagh to Sarai Kale Khan, Noida, ITO, and Ghaziabad. Moreover, a pedestrian subway is being built. Following Cabinet approval, the flypast extension project got under way in June 2020.

The total cost of the project is estimated  Rs.128.25 crore while the total length of the flyover including the ramp is 1,425 metres.
