Kochi: The case of cutting two thousand trees in Aarey Colony of Goregaon, Mumbai, has already made a lot of headlines that now a similar incident from Kerala has surprised everyone. A case has been registered against railway officials and contractors for cutting a tree in Palakkad railway station complex in Kerala. Actually, this tree had nests of more than 100 migratory birds, which were destroyed by the cutting of trees.

It is noteworthy that Gulmohar tree located in Palakkad railway station complex was cut on October 1. This tree of Gulmohar is said to be very old. More than a hundred nests built in it were broken and the eggs present in them were broken and scattered on the ground. According to eyewitnesses, after the tree was cut, the migratory birds sat there for two days and kept searching for their eggs. At the same time, for two days after the tree was cut, the birds were seen sitting near their broken eggs, which was quite a heart-wrenching scene.

When environmental activist Boban Mattumantha got information about the tree cut in the railway premises, he informed the forest department about it. After receiving the information, forest officials of the Valayal range, who reached the spot, have registered a case against the railway station officials and the tree cutting contractor. Boban Mattumantha has stated that permission should have been taken from the Forest Department before cutting the tree, but this was not done.
