Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala High Court Judge V Chitambaresh has advised Brahmins to lauch movement against caste reservation. He gave this advice during a conference of Tamil Brahmins. Raising the issue of the socio-economic situation of brahmins at the conference, Justice Chitambaresh said that he is not expressing his views because of his constitutional position, but it is time for the Brahmins to brainstorm. He questioned whether reservation should be given only on the basis of group or caste.

Referring to 10 per cent reservation, he said that if the son of a Brahmin cook comes to the non-creamy layer, he will not get the benefit of reservation. While the son of a wood trader who belongs to the OBC community and falls under the purview of the non-creamy layer, he will get the benefit of reservation. He appealed to the Brahmin society to raise the voice of reservation on economic grounds and not caste or religion-based reservation. Justice Chitambarash said that Brahmins are born twice on earth. Because of the Brahmin being born twice, he described it as the fruit of good deeds. He said that he is born twice as a Brahmin because of his good deeds done in his previous birth.
