New Delhi: Kharif yields may decline this year in the country. The reason for this is being told the first drought and then continuous heavy rains. A downward trend has been recorded in the first advance estimate of food production released by the ministry. It has been estimated that the decline in paddy yield of the largest Kharif crop has been done by 18 lakh tonnes. In the current monsoon season, by the middle of September, a total of four per cent has been rained, which is still continuing in many parts of the country. The monsoon season became active in mid-July, affecting the sowing of Kharif crops in many areas. But when the monsoon rains started, the flood situation occurred in many states.

This has affected standing crops in the fields. Due to this, the first advance estimate of food grains has been declining. The total production of food grains will be 14.05 million tonnes, which is marginally lower than last year's 2018-19 yields of 14.17 million tonnes. The yield of paddy, which is the major Kharif season, is expected to decline by 18 lakh tonnes.

According to estimates, this time paddy production will be 10.03 million tonnes. While the total yield of the previous year has been 102.2 million tonnes. The yield of coarse grains is estimated at 32 million tonnes, which will be higher than last year. To meet the domestic demand, the emphasis has been laid on pulses. But in the first advance estimate, a declining trend in these crops has been recorded. Please note that this year, due to heavy rain in monsoon, many parts of the country were flooded.
