Ranchi:  CBI Special Court in Ranchi will hear the case of former Bihar chief minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Lalu Prasad Yadav, who was convicted of illegal withdrawal from the Doranda treasury on Tuesday.

"The hearing for the pronouncement of the measure of punishment for Lalu Prasad Yadav will take place before the CBI Special Court in Ranchi on February 21," said Yadav's counsel Prabhat Kumar. While delivering its verdict in the fodder scam case, the CBI court convicted the RJD leader guilty. As many as 36 persons have been condemned to a jail term of three years each by the CBI court.

According to Sanjay Kumar, the defence lawyer in the Doranda treasury case, "A CBI Special Court in Ranchi sentenced 36 persons to three years in prison each. Lalu Prasad Yadav was found guilty. The extent of his punishment has yet to be determined."

The RJD Supremo was granted bail by the Jharkhand High Court in April last year in the case of illegal withdrawal from the Dumka Treasury, which was one of the cases relating to the fodder scam for which he was convicted.
