NEW DELHI: Rahul Gandhi, the Congress leader, drove a truck from Delhi to Chandigarh on May 23 to hear about the difficulties faced by truck drivers.

Gandhi travelled on Monday night, and in pictures and videos, the former party leader is seen sitting inside a truck, travelling with one of the drivers, and conversing with truck drivers at a dhaba while wearing his signature white T-shirt.

Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the people, spoke with truck drivers to learn about their issues. From Delhi to Chandigarh, Rahul Ji travelled with them, the Congress said in a tweet in Hindi.

 Along the Ambala-Chandigarh national highway, Gandhi also made a halt near a Gurdwara in Ambala City early on Tuesday morning and paid respects there. "Around 90 lakh truck drivers are reported to be operating on Indian roadways. They deal with issues of their own. "Rahul Ji did the work of hearing their 'Mann Ki Baat'," the Congress claimed.

Udai Bhan, the head of the Haryana Congress, said that Gandhi rode with truck drivers and stopped along the way to hear about their issues. Supriya Shrinate, who oversees the social media presence for the Congress, posted images of Gandhi travelling by truck and meeting truck drivers.
