Winter session: 115 percent work done in lower house, 14 bills passed

New Delhi: Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla has told on Friday that 115 per cent of the business was done in the Lok Sabha during the winter session and 14 bills were passed during the total proceedings of 130 hours and 45 minutes of the house and on an average 20.42 supplementary questions were answered daily. Before the Lok Sabha adjourned the proceedings indefinitely, Speaker Birla said that 20 sittings of the House were held during the session, which lasted a total of 130 hours and 45 minutes.

Supplementary demands for grants for the year 2019-20 were discussed for 5 hours and 5 minutes. He has said that 18 government bills were reestablished during the session and a total of 14 bills were passed. Birla said that 140 starred questions were given oral answers and on an average about 7.36 questions were answered daily. Apart from this, 20.42 supplementary questions were answered daily. On average, 58.37 issues were raised every day. A total of 364 issues were raised under Rule 377. The speaker said that in this way the productivity of the assembly was recorded at 115 percent. He told that the standing committees presented 48 reports in the assembly.

He told that during the session, a total of 1669 papers were put on the table by the concerned ministers. Two short-term discussions were held during the session under Rule 193, in which the discussion on "air pollution and climate change" lasted for 7 hours and 49 minutes and "Crop damage due to various reasons and its impact on farmers". The topic was discussed for 7 hours and 21 minutes.
