Stepfather rapes 6-yr-old visually-impaired girl in Thane

Mumbai: Thane Police arrested a man for raping his six-year-old visually-impaired daughter. A senior police officer has given information in this regard on Sunday. The officer said the girl's mother married a 44-year-old man from Mumbra Township after her husband passed away a year ago.

According to the officer, during the last one year, the girl has allegedly raped the girl several times. He would do this action when his wife went out of her home to work. According to police, when the girl protested, the accused threatened her. When a local NGO came to know about the alleged crime, he spoke to the victim's mother about it. Although this woman was also aware of this crime and had also questioned her husband, but she did not inform the police.

According to police, when members of the NGO approached to the woman, she filed a complaint against her husband on Friday night and was arrested on Saturday. A case has been registered against the accused under the Indian Penal Code and related sections of the Prevention of Child Sexual Offenses Act. The local court on Saturday remanded the accused to police custody for a week.
