Corona: You will be jailed if your spread rumor on 'April Fool's Day'

Mumbai: In view of the lockdown implemented across the country due to the outbreak of Corona virus, the Maharashtra government has issued a warning regarding April 1, that is, 'April Fool Day 2020'. Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh has said that strict action will be taken against those who make any kind of rumor or prank on April 1.

Deshmukh said that if any kind of rumor was spread or pranked to make people an April Fool on April 1, action would be taken against the guilty by registering a case under Cyber Crime. Earlier, Pune Police has also issued a warning in this regard. The Pune Police on Monday urged people not to spread rumors about the name of April Fool's Day prank or joke on social media or to give false information regarding the coronavirus.

The Pune Police has issued a notification in this regard. It has been said in the notification that if a person is found spreading false information about Coronavirus in the name of April Fool, action will be taken against him under Section 188 of IPC. Under this, a person can get imprisonment for 6 months or a fine of one thousand rupees or both.
