Mumbai: Former Maharashtra CM and BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis had announced last Saturday that he would retire from politics if he could not provide reservation to OBCs. Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut has now reacted sharply to Fadnavis' statement. In a statement last Monday, Sanjay Raut said, "Rest assured, we will not allow Fadnavis to retire in any way. In fact, the BJP is agitating in the state on the issue of OBC reservation in local bodies". Let us tell all of you that last Saturday also, the BJP had launched a state-wide agitation on the issue of OBC reservation.
Fadnavis had led the agitation at Variety Chowk in Nagpur and announced obc reservation or quit politics when he returned to power. Devendra Fadnavis had alleged during that time that the state government was responsible for cancelling OBC reservation. He said, "Unless the reservation is restored, there will be no rest. If they come back to power, they will get reservation and if they are not able to give, they will quit politics".
Now reacting to devendra fadnavis's same statement, Sanjay Raut said, "Fadnavis should not use such language. We will not allow that to happen. There is a shortage of leaders in the country and the State who can give good leadership. Fadnavis is one of the good leaders. There are fighters. They will continue to fight for their rights, if he retires, the BJP and the people will suffer a lot". Raut further said, "His colleagues should convince him, we will go to meet him ourselves". Fadnavis has a bright political future. On the other hand, shiv sena mouthpiece 'Saamana' also writes about Devendra Fadnavis' statement. The saamna says, "Fadnavis is not the right tradition to say so".
