Mamata Banerjee pays tribute to victims of 2001 attack on Parliament

West Bengal: Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister of West Bengal, paid tribute to security personnel who died combating terrorists during the 2001 Parliament attack. Because of their service, Banerjee stated that the nation will always be grateful.

"Let us not forget." Homage to all of our heroic security personnel who gave their lives to protect our Parliament on this day in 2001. Your supreme sacrifice has been recognised by the entire nation. 'We will always be grateful for your unselfish service,' she wrote on Twitter.

Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar of West Bengal also paid appreciation to the security troops. "Honoring our heroic security professionals who were slain in the line of duty during the 2001 ParliamentAttack. Every citizen is inspired to keep nation first by their service and supreme sacrifice. National security is paramount and calls for non-compromising stance,''  he wrote on Twitter.

Twenty years ago on December 13, terrorists from the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) opened fire on the Parliament complex, killing nine persons. Five Delhi Police officers, a lady Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) trooper, two Parliament watch and ward employees, and a gardener were among the victims. Later, a journalist who was hurt died. All five terrorists were killed by gunfire.
