Rae Bareli: An ENT doctor from Rae Bareli has accused a man who claimed to be a BJP member of threatening to kill him and demanding Rs 10 lakh.

Shiv Kumar, the doctor, claims that Santosh Kumar Pandey, a BJP member, came to his house late on June 12 night and introduced himself. Pandey demanded Rs 10 lakh and grabbed Rs 1 lakh from him forcibly. "He persisted in demanding money from me, threatening to kill me if I did not comply. Pandey owned a medical store in the city, and whenever I was on duty at the district hospital, he would come in and pressurise me to tell patients that they could only buy drugs from his store ""said the doctor." When Pandey continued to harass him, the doctor said he decided to file a police case.

He added, "I've also created a video where the accused is seen threatening me with death." Vandana Singh, the Rae Bareli Circle Officer, said Pandey has been charged with voluntarily inflicting harm and extortion, as well as the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 2015. She stated that the doctor's video was being examined and that Pandey's statement would be recorded soon.
