Cricket Australia (CA) wrote on its official Twitter handle that, "The 'Man of the Match' of the Boxing Day Test will be awarded the Mulag Medal. It is named after the legendary Johnny Mulag, the 1868 cricket team "The team was the first Australian team to tour internationally." Mulag's real name was Unarimin and he led the regional team in 1868. In this tour, he played 45 out of 47 matches and scored 1698 runs at an average of about 23.
He also bowled 1877 overs, of which 831 overs were maidens and he took 245 wickets at an average of 10. In his career, he also played the role of improvised wicketkeeper and did four stumpings.
