Mangalagiri: TDP state president K Atchannayadu challenged Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy to "cancel the council elections and issue a fresh notification to conduct the elections in a free and fair manner. The chief minister continued to mock all constitutional institutions and procedures." And elections are no exception. The results of local body elections are 'fake'."

The TDP leader said that the leaders of the ruling party resorted to all kinds of harassment, misuse of government machinery and electoral violations. The most shameful thing in all this was that the police and officers of all the departments concerned got involved in the excesses of the ruling party. The election results of the council will not reflect the rightful mandate given by the people, who were thoroughly troubled by the tyrannical regime. These results will only highlight the extreme level to which the ruling YSRCP leader will go in his bid to win the election. He murdered democracy the whole time.

The TDP leader said that at one time the chief minister had warned ministers that they would have to go straight to the Raj Bhavan to resign if they did not get good results. Such politics of intimidation and harassment was unheard of. He said the ruling YSRCP leaders threatened to cancel the welfare benefits if voters did not elect their party's candidates. He also threatened to demolish houses and file illegal cases at many places.
