Imphal: Strong tremors have occurred in Ukhrul, Manipur on Monday. Its intensity is recorded at 4.4 on the Richter scale. The National Centre of Sysmology (National Centre for Seismology) has given information in this regard. The earthquake occurred 56 kilometers southeast of Usrul at 7.48 am. However, there have been no reports of loss of life and property.
Earlier on Thursday also, there were tremors in Manipur. There was a 3.5 magnitude earthquake near Moirang in the morning. Its depth was up to 57 km in the southeast. The National Centre of Sysmology reported that 'an earthquake of magnitude 3.5 on the Richter scale occurred around 6 a.m..' However, there was no report of any damage. On Monday itself, about two hours ago, reports of an earthquake were reported from Port Blair and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
The tremors were felt here at 5.28 am. The intensity of which was recorded at 4.3. Earlier tremors were felt in Sikkim. The epicentre of the earthquake here was about 18 kilometers from the capital Gangtok. It was reported that the tremors were also felt in Darjeeling and Kalimpong, located in the neighbourhood of Sikkim. No loss of life or property has been reported during this period.
