New Delhi: Former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia has reached his home after being in jail for a long time. However, his wife's health has worsened even before he reaches home. Due to this, he had to be admitted to the hospital. The Supreme Court on Tuesday granted seven-hour leave to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Manish Sisodia to visit his ailing wife and spend some time with her.
Sisodia was earlier arrested by the CBI in connection with the Delhi liquor scam. After that, the ED arrested him while investigating the money trail in this case. Since then, Sisodia has been lodged in Tihar Jail. At the same time, his wife's health was constantly deteriorating. In view of this, Manish Sisodia had first applied for bail and later leave in the Supreme Court in both the ED and CBI cases. Although Sisodia did not get bail in this case, on the direction of the apex court, Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court has given 7 hours relief.
Sisodia, in his plea filed in the court, had cited the deteriorating health of his wife and said that he should stay with her for some time to stay with her and make other care arrangements besides her treatment. His application has been accepted by the court on humanitarian grounds. It also ruled that Sisodia can stay with his wife from 10 am to 7 pm on June 3 and make other arrangements related to her care.
