Former Bangladesh captain Mashrafe Murtaza, accused of instigating him to retire on the board after a poor performance in one or two tournaments, claimed that he was also offered a farewell match for it. Murtaza accused the BCB of abetting him to retire. He said that after a poor performance in one of the two tournaments, the board encouraged him to retire.

Murtaza said that he was hurt by the lack of respect for his achievements. He told 'Cricbuzz' that to be honest I feel that I am in a hurry to bid farewell and it is definitely sad. The board also offered him a farewell match. Murtaza further said that he has been greatly hurt by his lack of respect for his achievements.

He said, 'To be honest, the board is in a hurry to give me a farewell match. It is certainly very sad. First he had to organize a farewell match for me.
