Shillong: According to East Jaintia Hills District Police, minor girls of Khalihariyat were abducted on September 17. Based on the report, Khalihariyat Mahila Police Station registered a case and started investigation. Jagpal Singh Dhanoa, Superintendent of Police, East Jaintia Hills said that during investigation, it was found that two minor girls have been taken somewhere in Kalain, Assam. After that, the district police immediately swung into action and engaged credible sources to trace the location of the two minor girls, he said.

East Jaintia Hills district police chief said that on September 24, women police sub-inspector D. Shabong and sub-inspector B. A police team led by Marbaniyang with the help of Assam Police managed to track and rescue both the minor girls.

"The accused Syedul Islam and Raju Majoob managed to escape taking advantage of the darkness and are on the lookout for them," the police said. After completing all the formalities, the victims have been handed over to the CWC.
