ALIGARH: Three persons were detained for allegedly gang-raping a 13-year-old girl in Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh police said on Wednesday.

A woman who was an accomplice in the crime and the neighbour of the survivor was also taken into custody.

The incident came to light after the girl's mother registered a police complaint in the case at the Harduaganj police station. The woman claimed in her complaint that the defendant, who had also recorded the act, had threatened to post the video on social media if she had the temerity to notify anybody about the crime.

The 13-year-old victim was taken and locked in a room by the accused woman at her home on Sunday afternoon, the FIR claims. DSP Vishal Kumar said: "On the basis of the complaint received from the victim's family, an FIR has been registered against three men and a woman under IPC sections 376D (gangrape), 506 (criminal intimidation), 342 (wrongful confinement), 120-B (criminal conspiracy), and sections of the POCSO Act. The entire matter The officials claimed that they also recorded the crime and afterwards allowed her to return home.

They were detained late on Tuesday night, according to the officials, who also stated that further investigation is ongoing. The victim's mother stated: "We had approached the nearby police outpost on Sunday to file a complaint but policemen there pressured us to reach a compromise with the accused."
