NEW DELHI: The Central government introduced an important bill in the Upper House of Parliament, the Rajya Sabha, on the confusion that is being spread in advertisements. That was passed by the Rajya Sabha. According to the bill, if the product does not meet the claims made by the filmmakers in the advertisement, strict action will now be taken against the celebrity who has been advertised with the product maker. The Rajya Sabha on Tuesday passed the Consumer Protection Bill 2019 by voice vote. The Bill has already been passed in the Lok Sabha.

It will now further strengthen the rights of consumers and put in place a mechanism for early disposal of their grievances. Food and Consumer Affairs Minister Ram Vilas Paswan said during the talks that the government has brought the bill with a view to strengthening the rights of consumers. In addition, Paswan said, an action scene in advertisements will also be brought into law soon.
