Big relief to poor farmers in lock down, Modi government transfers crores to accounts

New Delhi: Under the first instalment of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) scheme, the central government has transferred a sum of Rs 15,841 crore to the bank accounts of a total of 7.92 crore farmers at the beginning of the current financial year. The Ministry of Agriculture has given information in this regard. Under this scheme, financial assistance of a total of 6000 rupees is provided in three instalments of 2000-2000 rupees every financial year to all farmers except high-income farmers.

The government decided to distribute the first instalment of the current financial year early in view of the crisis of the global epidemic Korana virus. A statement from the Ministry of Agriculture said that 7.92 crore farmer families have been benefited from the Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana amid restrictions imposed from March 24 due to the Corona crisis. A total amount of Rs 15,841 crore has been directly transferred to his accounts.
