Mumbai: The ED has taken major action and arrested former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh around 1 pm last Monday. Yes, his arrest has been reported by ED officials under the recent information. Anil Deshmukh is said to have been arrested on charges of extortion and money laundering and is now scheduled to appear before the court today. Let us also inform you that Satyavrat Kumar, Joint Director, ED himself had arrived in Mumbai from Delhi to interrogate Anil Deshmukh.

Recently, the ED has made it clear that the former Home Minister of Maharashtra was not cooperating in the investigation, so he was arrested. On the other hand, following the report of a famous website, Anil Deshmukh's lawyer Indrapal Singh said, "We are cooperating in the investigation of this 4.5 crore rupee case.'' When he is produced before the court today, we will oppose his remand. You must be aware that ED Joint Director Satyavrat Kumar along with some other officials reached the agency office around 9 pm.

Earlier, Anil Deshmukh was summoned five times for questioning by the ED, though he did not appear even once. He had appeared before the agency last week after the Bombay High Court refused to quash all the summons. Let us also tell you that information has been given by ed officials about Anil Deshmukh's arrest and it has been said that action is being taken and interrogated in the alleged bribery and recovery case of Rs.100 crores at the Central Investigating Agency Maharashtra Police Establishment.
