In Jharkhand, five people including a child have lost their lives and several others were injured in various lightning accidents in Dumka and Ramgarh districts on Tuesday. Meanwhile, three persons from the same family have lost their lives in a road accident in Latehar.

Dumka divisional officer Maheshwar Mahato said that an incident of lightning took place in Kunjbona village under Maslia police station area of the district in which a 10-year-old boy named Shivshankar Murmu has lost his life while two of his friends fell unconscious. The trio had gone for a walk in the evening.

In this regard, the divisional officer said that the second incident of lightning took place in Kauria village under Kathikund police station area of the district where a 28-year-old man named Praveen Kisku was in the courtyard of his house when he too lost his life due to lightning and his wife fainted for some time. According to the information received, the divisional officer said that after the post mortem, the next of kin of the two deceased should be compensated with Rs 4 lakh each as per rules.

According to a report received from Ramgarh, three teenagers lost their lives on the spot while two others were injured in the incidents when lightning struck Gosi village in Mandu block of Ramgarh in the afternoon. Those who lost their lives due to lightning have been identified as 16-year-old Abhishek Kumar, 19-year-old Gautam Kumar and 19-year-old Alok Sanghu. The three teenagers were playing cricket in the area along with some of their other friends and in the meantime they hid under a tree with oats due to rain, but shortly thereafter, lightning struck the tree, killing the three teenagers while injuring some others in the incident.
