Monsoon expected to hit Indore by June 15, predicts IMD

INDORE: Amid the suffocating and blistering heat across the country, the city of Indore received some relief on Tuesday when Meteorological Department authorities said that the peak temperature had dropped to 41 degrees Celsius and that the monsoon would arrive by June 15. The temperature in the city reached 44 degrees, making the people beg for relief.

"The temperature has been 41 degrees maximum and 25 degrees minimum for the last two days,"  according to Dr HL Khapedia, the Meteorological Department's nodal officer. "The temperature is predicted to remain the same for the next three days, due to gloomy sky, the humidity will persist in the coming days." The officials reported that warm air from Rajasthan and Gujarat was also blowing from west to east.

"Drizzle is predicted to commence from June 10 onwards, which will be pre-monsoon; winds are likely to blow from the south starting June 15, and the monsoon will arrive by then," he added. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has previously said that the heatwave would affect Haryana, Punjab, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and parts of Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.
