Bhopal: Polling and counting of votes for the civic body elections in Madhya Pradesh are being held in two phases. In the civic bodies where polling was held on July 6, the counting of votes is scheduled to be held on July 17. Similarly, in the civic bodies where polling will be held on July 13, the date of July 18 was fixed for the counting of votes, but now the voting for the presidential election is to be held on July 18, so the political parties wanted that the counting of votes for the civic body elections scheduled on this day should be postponed.

According to state election commissioner Basant Pratap Singh, the presidential election is scheduled for July 18. It is necessary for all MLAs to be present because the voters are the same. They would like the counting that is taking place in their area, where the local MLA should also be present. All parties had also made a demand in this regard. Then, this decision has been taken. The Commissioner said that due to Guru Purnima on July 13, a memorandum was received from the BJP regarding the change in the date of the second phase of polling, but on the request of one party, the date of the elections could not be postponed.
