New Delhi: Union Minister for Minority Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi has resigned from the Modi cabinet. At this juncture, now there is speculation about him being made the vice-presidential candidate. Earlier on Wednesday, Naqvi had a meeting with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president J P Nadda. The meeting came at a time when in the Union Cabinet meeting held on Wednesday itself, PM Narendra Modi praised Naqvi's contribution in the service of the country and the people.
After Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi resigned from the Modi cabinet, speculations have started rife that he may be given a big post in the party. At the same time, political pundits also say that the BJP can contest him as a vice-presidential candidate. However, there is no official statement from the government in this regard and no statement has been issued by Naqvi. Let us know that Naqvi was holding the post of MP from the Rajya Sabha. His term is going to end. The BJP has not even sent him to the Rajya Sabha this time.
In view of this, it is believed that Naqvi may be made the vice presidential candidate of the BJP. The voting for the post of Vice President is scheduled to take place on August 6 and the term of the current Vice President Venkaiah Naidu is ending on August 10.
