The upcoming Lok Sabha elections of 2024 are set to unfold in seven phases, commencing from April 19 and culminating in the vote count on June 4. With the election fervor intensifying, candidates across various political parties are revealing comprehensive details about themselves, including their assets, criminal records, financial standings, and more. Leading the pack in terms of wealth among candidates contesting in the first phase is Nakul Nath, son of former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath. Nakul Nath, who is vying for the Chhindwara constituency, has disclosed assets totaling Rs 716 crore in his election affidavit.
In the previous 2019 elections, Nakul Nath emerged victorious from the Chhindwara Lok Sabha seat with a margin of over 37,000 votes against BJP's Nathan Shah. His father, Kamal Nath, had previously secured victory from this same constituency in 2014, defeating BJP's Chandrabhan Singh by a significant margin of 1.16 lakh votes.
Trailing closely behind is AIADMK's Ashok Kumar from Erode, Tamil Nadu, declaring assets exceeding Rs 662 crore. In the third position for the richest candidates in phase one stands BJP's Dhevanathan Yadav T, contesting from Sivaganga, Tamil Nadu, with assets valued at Rs 304 crore. Further down the list, BJP's Mala Rajya Lakshmi Shah, running from Tehri Garhwal, possesses assets totaling Rs 206 crore, placing her fourth in line. BSP's Majid Ali follows at the fifth spot, with declared assets amounting to Rs 159 crore.
