New Delhi: The National Green Tribunal (NGT) is going to decide today on the ban of firecrackers till 30 November in the country's capital Delhi. Today's order of the NGT will make it clear in which states firecrackers will be prohibited during Diwali. Let us tell you that the Kejriwal government of Delhi has already issued a notification banning firecrackers, but many states have still not banned the use of firecrackers.
Uttar Pradesh has not yet clarified its stand, while its two cities Ghaziabad and Noida are part of Delhi-NCR. The states which have banned firecrackers on Diwali include Delhi, West Bengal, Rajasthan, Odisha, Karnataka and Haryana. However, a day after announcing the ban, Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar has again said that people can burst firecrackers for 2 hours.
Let us tell you that the Kejriwal government of Delhi has canceled all the licenses issued for selling crackers. Now the Delhi government is waiting for NGT guidelines. The notice was sought by the NGT for banning of firecrackers by sending notice to 18 states, in which about half of the states have banned firecrackers themselves, but the attitude of half the states is still not clear.
