On Thursday, Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said that his ministry will soon issue a new rent policy. During a program, he said that very soon you will see a fare policy in the country. This will help to overcome the housing shortage in urban areas. This policy will encourage the rental of millions of vacant houses across the country.

Regarding this matter, Puri said that many people do not want to rent their property, because they feel that if their legal basis is weak then they will not be able to get their property back. He said that the new fare policy will solve this concern of the people. He said that the states will be able to change the rent policy as per their wish. This will provide a large number of such houses which are not yet in use. Puri has independent charge of the Ministry of Civil Aviation besides Housing and Urban Affairs.
