NCB arrested two with 7.7 kg 'Charas'

Ahmedabad, Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) arrested two persons yesterday at Memco area for carrying 7.7 kg of charas, the value of which in the international market is estimated to be around Rs 40 lakh.

NCB Zonal Director Hari Om Gandhi said, "We knew that two drug peddlers were coming from Ajmer (in Rajasthan) in a bus and heading towards Rajkot. Based on the input, we intercepted the bus near Memco area early this morning and caught them. We recovered 7.7 kg of hashish from them, the value of which in international market is around Rs 40 lakh".

The convict, identified as Firoz Amir Shah and Razzak Shah, both residents of Mangrol town in Junagadh district, were subsequently arrested under various sections of NDPS Act.

Gandhi added, "The source of hashish is Kashmir Valley. They had acquired it from one Ashraf in Pathankot. Then they came to Ajmer via Delhi. From Ajmer, they had planned to reach Rajkot and then to Junagadh, where the hashish was supposed to be delivered. We are now investigating their connections".
