On 11th January, Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Income Tax Department has raided the Nationalist Congress party senior leader Hasan Mushrif house in Kolhapur. The raid has started from the morning 6 am with two dozen team members.

This raid has happened after the former MP from Bhartiya Janta Party Kirti Somaiya has made some allegations of irregularities of more than Rs 158 crore in a sugar mill besides the suprising huge properties against the former Maha Vikas Aghadi  government minister. Somaiya has also said that his son-in-law and son is involved in the embezzlement.

Around 20 ED officials with Income tax officials reached to the house of the Hasan Mushrif in  Kagal and currently examining the documents in Hasan's house. His offices are also being raided by the ED. Raids are also underway in Amanora and Kondhwa in Hadaspur by ED.

Hasan Mushrif has been associated with big names in the politics like Sharad Pawar, and is a big name in the politics in the Kolhapur district. NCP has spoken against the raids and said that this is a political vendetta. 

In 2020, Appasaheb Nalavde Sugar Factory was given to BRICS India Pvt Ltd without any transperancy in the transaction that has happened in the acquirement. Even the company doesn't hold any experience in running a sugar business. Somaiya has also alleged that his son-in-law is the owner of that company. When Hasan was the Rural Development Minister he passed a contract of Rs 1500 crore to his fake son-in-law company's. 

Somaiya has given proofs to the then Chief minister Uddhav Thackeray and Sharad Pawar asking Mushrif to cancel the contract. Mushrif has caused more tormoil when he was a minister and said that there were raids back in 2019 also. 
 

After the various ministers like Anil Deshmukh and Nawab Malik targeted under the various agencies for several mishappening Mushrif is the third minister that has been under the radar. NCP activists has gathered in a large number outside Hasan Mushrif's house protesting against the BJP and probe agencies with staging noisy protests raising slogans and calling for the Kolhapur shutdown. 

Hasan Mushrif has deined all the allegations made against him under the illegal money fraud involving his family members. ED has also raided some of close relatives of Hasan in the money fraud case against him.
