PANAJI: Drawing inspiration from the wisdom of former South African President Nelson Mandela, who once remarked, "Do not gauge me by my triumphs, but by how many times I stumbled and rose again," President Droupadi Murmu conveyed a heartfelt message to the youth on Wednesday: "No matter what the circumstances be, one should never give up'.

These words of encouragement were shared during the distinguished 34th commencement ceremony of Goa University, hosted at the esteemed Raj Bhavan. President Murmu's visit to Goa, spanning three days, commenced on Tuesday and carried a significance that resonated deeply.

"The certificates and golden laurels that you adorn today shall indeed facilitate your entry into professions or entrepreneurial endeavors. However, the single attribute that can propel you to unparalleled heights is the 'courage' to weather life's storms without surrender. No matter the odds, surrender should never find sanctuary," she underscored, eloquently paraphrasing Nelson Mandela's sagacity.

She lauded the remarkable accomplishment of female students, proclaiming, "It warms my heart to witness that 55 percent of degree holders and 60 percent of gold medalists are, in fact, young women."

"In today's era, technology and innovation serve as the bedrock of progress. I've come to understand that Goa University is fervently championing innovation through its 'Digital Integrated System for Holistic Teaching and Virtual Orientations' initiative," President Murmu commented, reinforcing the university's pioneering role.

With utmost conviction, President Murmu highlighted the indispensable need to nurture unparalleled expertise in burgeoning fields like Artificial Intelligence and Data Science within our tertiary institutions.

"I am gratified to acknowledge Goa University's altruistic adoption of five villages under the 'Unnat Bharat Abhiyan,' where sustainable cultivation of mussels and mushrooms has been embraced," she added, elaborating on the university's commendable engagement with the community.

"Education constitutes a lifelong voyage, a ceaseless odyssey. A perpetually curious learner not only seizes opportunities but confronts life's trials head-on. The present youth generation will forge a resplendent India in the 'Era of Commitment.' With unwavering conviction, I trust that you will realize the cherished aspiration of propelling India toward unprecedented prosperity," she concluded, radiating optimism for the nation's future.
