New Delhi: The Supreme Court has given permission to issue a new death warrant for the convicts of Nirbhaya. On the other hand, considering this to be a big success for his side, Nirbhaya's parents filed an application for issuing a new death warrant in the Patiala House Court on Tuesday itself. Where Additional Sessions Judge Dharmendra Rana issued notice to the four convicts on the application and sought answers. This petition was scheduled to be heard today. It is also being said that Additional Sessions Judge Dharmendra Rana took note of the Delhi High Court's order dated 5 February 2020, in which the four convicts were given time to exercise legal options till one week i.e. 11 February 2020. The Tihar jail administration had approached Patiala House Court on February 5 and demanded the issuance of a death warrant. The court said that the culprits have been given 7 days' time and before that, a death warrant cannot be issued against them.

According to the information received, the court said that when the law allows the convicts to survive, then hanging them is a sin. The judge said that I agree with the plea of the counsel for the convicts that the death warrant cannot be served merely on the basis of doubt and speculation. The court rejected the application of Tihar Jail and asked him to apply again. A week given to the convicts on 11 February has been completed. Due to this, the Tihar Jail Administration and Nirbhaya's parents again approached the Patiala House Court on Tuesday.

There have been two death warrants against the four convicts Vinay, Mukesh, Akshay and Pawan, but due to their petitions pending, they continued to hang themselves. At present, both the curative and mercy petitions of Mukesh, Vinay and Akshay have been rejected. At the same time, it has been learned that the guilty Pawan still has a chance to file a curative and mercy petition. After the ultimatum of the High Court, Pawan should have filed a curative or mercy petition, but this did not happen. On the other hand, the decision to dismiss the mercy petition of the convicted Vinay was challenged in the Supreme Court on Tuesday.
