"Stranger Things" star Noah Schnapp came out as gay in an 8-second TikTok video on Thursday.

When I eventually informed my friends and family I was gay after being afraid and in the closet for 18 years, all they replied was "we know," the 18-year-old actor who plays secret homosexual teen Will Byers in the popular Netflix series wrote on-screen.

Schnapp lip-synchronized with a popular TikTok music clip while performing in the video "Do you know what it was never? That grave. Never was it that serious. In all honesty, it won't ever be that serious."

"I guess I'm more similar to Will than I anticipated," Schnapp captioned the video.

Many viewers expressed their admiration for Schnapp in the comments section of the video, writing things like "SO proud of you!!" and "Can we all appreciate that Noah came out to the whole world and recognise how much courage it takes to do that when you're a physical superstar.

Schnapp verified fan theories about his character Will being gay and in love with his best friend in July of last year.
"Is it just that he's growing up slower than his friends? It was kind of there all the time, but you never really knew," I asked. Variety quoted Schnapp. "They made it a very real, obvious thing now that he is older. It is now undeniably evident that he is gay and that he does adore Mike."

Although there have been no specifics on the season's release date, Netflix and the "Stranger Things" creators announced last year that the next fifth season would be the final of the series.
