New Delhi: Amidst all the criticism and concerns, the central government has decided to create a regulatory mechanism to deal with fake news. The regulatory body will allow the fact-check body to label government-related content on online platforms such as Facebook and Twitter as "fake" or "misleading". The government has mandated an organisation be appointed to deal with fake news and flag any false or misleading content attributed to the government.

According to media reports, the IT Ministry gave the green light to new rules on Thursday (April 6), under which government organisations like PIB, Facebook, Twitter, and Google should fact-check false, incorrect, or misleading news against the central government and may give instructions to remove them. Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology Rajeev Chandrasekhar gave information in this regard on Thursday.

Rajeev Chandrasekhar said that social media platforms and other websites on the internet will now have to ensure that such articles or any other content that has been declared fake news' by the fact-checking body is removed from their platforms with immediate effect. be removed from Related platforms will be alerted by PIB for such posts. He further said that maybe it could be a PIB fact-check unit, which will be officially notified later.

Releasing the final guidelines for online gaming, Union Minister Rajiv Chandrasekhar said that the final rule is being worked out. Chandrasekhar said, 'The government has decided to notify a unit through the Ministry of Electronics and IT. This organisation will check the facts of all the information posted on online forums.
