Dehradun: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami's government is preparing to allow working women in Uttarakhand to work in night shifts in industries and factories. For this, there is a preparation to amend the Factory Service Rules. The factory management can call women on night duty at par with men, but five major arrangements will have to be made for their safety. Labour Secretary R Meenakshisundaram confirmed the exercise. At present, women in Uttarakhand are allowed to work in night shifts in the organized sector but not for industries and factories. Many times production work in industries and factories is affected due to lack of women staff. Due to this, many entrepreneurs were also advocating changes in factory laws.

Important conditions for management:-
* 20 percent of the total staff of the concerned factory should be women workers
* Vehicle facility to transport women employees from their home to office back home
* It will be mandatory to have panic button and women security personnel in the vehicle.
It is also necessary to have adequate lighting, security and CCTV at the place of work of the woman.
* CCTV footage has to be preserved for 45 days.

Labour Secretary R Meenakshisundaram said the state has decided to give concessions to women workers in the Factories Act. The factory management will have to make some special arrangements for the safety of women workers. The amendment proposal has been prepared. It is being brought to the Cabinet.
