New Delhi: The cases of omicron in the country are increasing even faster. So far, 220 cases have been heard in 14 states of the country. In view of the increasing cases of omicron, the Central Government has written to states and Union Territories ordering them to take stringent steps to prevent infection.

In the letter, the Center is asking for the war room to be activated, describing Omicron as three times more infectious than delta. It has also issued orders to take stringent and quick steps at the local and district levels keeping in view every update related to Covid.

In a letter to the states, Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan said that in addition to increasing testing and monitoring, steps such as the imposition of night curfew, banning large meetings, limiting the number of people in marriages and funerals should be learnt.

- The Central Secretary in his letter has also written that necessary steps like the creation of construction of cantonment zones at the district level, fixing of retention zone limits, continuous review of cases, augmentation of facilities in hospitals have been taken. The Centre said in the letter that such a strategy would control the local level even before the infection spreads to the rest of the state.

- Bhushan has written for the states in his letter, "Make war rooms, emergency operation centres active." Analysis case trends. Even if the cases are low, keep active investigations at the district and local levels. Regular review with field officials. These steps will definitely help in reducing infections.

- Learn to create covid's new cluster sustainment zone, buffer zone. Stringent steps should be taken to prevent infection in the maintenance itself. Samples in all clusters should be sent in time for genome sequencing.

- The letter says that scientific evidence so far has shown that omicron is three times more contagious than delta. Not only that but delta cases are also being seen in many parts of India.

- The Central Government has also said that, at the local and district level, state governments need to take tough and quick decisions with foresight, data analysis.

- The Central Government has asked for selecting the cantonment, focusing on tests, treks and surveys. Not only that but states have also been asked to take necessary steps like a door to door case search and testing. At the same time, the number of RT-PCR tests should also be increased.

- All contacts of all covid patients should be traced. In addition, the district administration should also monitor passengers from abroad.

- All states have also been asked to increase bed figures, increase ambulances and other machinery and increase buffer stock of oxygen and medicines.

- The Centre has said that there will be no change in the National Clinic Management Protocol in view of Omicron.

- According to the guideline, the rules of home isolation should be strictly followed. Information should be taken on time by call centres and home visits at the time of home isolation. Special care should be taken to ensure that infections do not spread from a person living in home isolation to others.
