Dehradun: Corona's new variant 'Omicron' has caused a stir across the country, while the threat of corona has resumed in Rishikesh on rafting and camping business. With the arrival of new variant omicrons, the figures of tourists coming for rafting and camping are declining. Tourists are facing problems due to corona test at the state border. Many tourists have cancelled their online bookings.

Due to the same Corona virus, rafting and camp operators in Lakshmanjhula, Swargashram, Munikireti and Tapovan areas were beginning to recover from the recession. As soon as the arrangements started running on the track, new variants have now hit the country. This has put the government and administration on alert. The test of persons entering the state boundaries has been increased. This is affecting the business of rafting and camping.

Dinesh Bhatt, Chairman, River Rafting Rotation Committee, Raj Kumar and Anurag Payal, raft traders said that there is an atmosphere of fear among tourists due to the knock of new variants in the country and abroad. This is now affecting rafting and camping operating in the pilgrimage city. People coming to rafting and camping have cancelled online bookings. The number of people has come down even on the weekend. The situation is that now the turnover here is only 30 to 35 per cent.
