Lucknow:  A large number of people thronged the disputed Gyanvapi Mosque in Varanasi on Friday (May 20, 2022) to offer Jumei prayers. The gates had to be closed after there was no space inside the premises. At present, the police administration is in alert mode. According to media reports, the disputed structure has a capacity of 700 people. But about a thousand people gathered. After this, the gate was closed and people were requested to go to other mosques.

The crowd gathered even after an appeal from the Anjuman Sakshamia Masjid Committee in Varanasi. The committee had requested people not to come in large numbers and offer prayers only in the mosques of their locality. Because of this, Gyanvapi's Vaju food was said to be sealed. It is worth mentioning that the Hindu side had claimed that during the survey, the Shivling was found in the Vaju Khana of the disputed structure. After this, the place was sealed and handed over to the CRPF. However, the administration had made special arrangements for water for the Namazis on Jumei. The administration had said that arrangements have been made for 50 lotas and two drums of water for the Namazis.

Already today on Friday (May 20, 2022), due to Jumei, a large number of Namazis were expected to reach the disputed structure. In view of this, the Anjuman Sakshamia Masjid Committee had appealed to Muslims not to crowd. But this appeal had little effect.
