Bhubaneswar: There has been an atmosphere of panic in the region after an RTI activist was shot dead in broad daylight in Odisha. Abhimanyu Panda was shot dead by two unknown assailants at Patharshi in Kandhamal district. In an injured condition, Abhimanyu Panda was taken to Seachac in Baliguda, where doctors declared him dead. The reason behind the attack is not yet known. Police has started searching for the accused.

This incident has come out from Kandhamal district. Abhimanyu was standing near his house on Tuesday morning, when 2 bike riders started firing on him. Abhimanyu Panda was shot in the chest and badly injured. In a critical condition, he was immediately brought to CHC (Community Health Center) in Baliguda, where he was declared dead. The cause of the attack is yet to be known.

As soon as the shooting incident took place, the police reached the spot immediately and seized the empty cartridge lying near the deceased's house. According to sources, the search for the attackers has been started. Senior RTI activist Pratap Pradhan also reached Baliguda from Bhubaneswar. Speaking to the media, he said that we demand immediate arrest of the culprits of this hate crime.
