After passing from the Indian Parliament, the phase of demonstrations in protest against the Civil Amendment Act continues. While former Goa Congress president and former MP John Fernandes targeted his own party for opposing the law, he said, "It is wrong to take to the streets against the law. While AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi took out the tricolor rally in Hyderabad." Demonstrations were also held against the CAA in Kolkata. On the other hand, the Gujarat Assembly passed a resolution in support of the CAA.

In his statement, Fernandez said, it is wrong to take to the streets against the law which has been passed by Parliament once. This is a good law, everyone should accept it. Thousands of people attended the Owaisi rally in Hyderabad with the tricolor in their hands. These people shouted slogans of 'No Chala na Chalna, CAA No Chala' and 'Hindustan Zindabad'. Organizations including the United Muslim Action Committee also participated in it. A march against the CAA and NRC was also held in North 24 Parganas under the leadership of Bengal CM Mamta Banerjee. While discussing CAA in a law college, TMC MP Derek O'Brien said, the central government does politics of discrimination. Its policies have affected the poor. Whether it is demonetisation or citizenship amendment law, the poor have taken the brunt of it.
