New Delhi: The sword of arrest is hanging over the former Union Finance Minister and a senior Congress leader. The Delhi High Court yesterday dismissed the anticipatory bail plea filed by him in the INX media case on Tuesday. Both the CBI and ED investigating agencies are looking for him to arrest him. The team which arrived at his house on Tuesday could not arrest him, while the CBI team reached his house early Wednesday morning. The CBI had reached his house late last night but could not find him.

The team then posted notice of appearance within two hours. The notice was replied by Congress leader P Chidambaram's lawyer Arshdeep Singh Khurana. Khurana wrote to the CBI in his reply stating the lapse of the notice and directed to state that the notice has failed to mention the provision of the law under which my case has been issued to my family within two hours.

Rejecting the bail plea, the court said that it is a unique case of money laundering and granting bail in such a case will send a wrong message to the society. Chidambaram's lawyer had sought three days time for the appeal, which was rejected by the High Court. The former Finance Minister's mobile phone is also coming off. After the rejection of the anticipatory bail plea, Chidambaram met senior lawyers Kapil Sibal, Abhishek Manu Singhvi, and Salman Khurshid to discuss further steps. Chidambaram is now hoping to get relief from the top court where his path is not easy.
