Paddy to be procured in the state will no longer be sent out: CM Soren

Ranchi: Procurement of paddy from farmers will start from December 15 in Jharkhand. Necessary arrangements have been made in all cities for this purpose. Deputy Commissioners of cities have been directed to procure from farmers as per the rules laid down by the government at paddy procurement centres. Most of the 200 quintals of paddy will be procured from a farmer. Meanwhile, CM Hemant Soren has said that paddy procured in the state will no longer be sent out, it will make rice here. For this, on December 29, the government will lay the foundation stone of 14 rice mills in the state.

The government has approved a loan of Rs 1522 crore to the State Food Corporation to ensure timely payment of paddy prices to farmers. This time 50 per cent of the total price of their paddy will be paid to the farmers immediately and the remaining amount will be given within 3 months. The government has directed the corporation to pay the prices of paddy to the donors in every case within the prescribed rules and time frame. The corporation had taken a loan of Rs 421 crore for timely payment to farmers even due to the last Kharif crop cycle. The corporation claims that for the first time in the state, farmers have been paid the entire amount in lieu of the crop purchased from them.

2050 per quintal for ordinary paddy and Rs.2070 per quintal for Grade A variety. This amount includes both the MINIMUM SUPPORT PRICE fixed by the Centre and the bonus paid by the state government. State Agriculture Minister Badal Patralekh said that due to kharif crop cycle of 2021-22, the government has set a target of procuring 8 lakh metric tonnes of paddy from farmers in the state.
