Islamabad: Irfan Siddiqui, who was pakistan's special adviser to former PM Nawaz Sharif, was granted bail on Sunday.  Irfan, who was arrested in an tenancy agreement case, was arrested by a judicial magistrate a day earlier and sent to Adil Jail in judicial custody for 14 days. Judicial Magistrate Maherin Baloch has granted bail to Siddiqui and his tenant Javed Iqbal on a bond of Rs 20,000. Both have been released soon after the interior minister confirmed the order from the court.

According to The Express Tribune, Siddiqui and Iqbal were detained Friday night.  A case was registered against him on charges of breaking the tenancy law under Section 188 of the Pakistani Penal Code (PPC). On Saturday, the next day of his arrest, Siddiqui and Iqbal were handcuffed and produced before the court of judicial magistrate Maherin Baloch.

Siddiqui, a former adviser to Nawaz Sharif, was arrested for renting a house on which he never signed because the house belongs to his son. Though the magistrate had remanded the two accused to 14 days judicial custody, they have now been granted bail.
