9th day of Parliament session wasted! Opposition uproar lead Lok Sabha adjourned till Monday

New Delhi: The monsoon session on the Pegasus espionage case and three central agricultural laws continued to clash for the ninth day between the party and the opposition in the Lok Sabha and the House was adjourned for the day at around 12:15 pm on Friday after a one-time adjournment due to heavy noise from opposition members. Some opposition parties, including Congress, demanded an immediate discussion on the espionage issue Pegasus while rejecting the government's demand that it was not an issue.

Amidst the uproar, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman introduced the General Insurance Business (Nationalisation) Amendment Bill, 2021 in the House. Meanwhile, Forest and Environment and Climate Change Minister Bhupinder Yadav introduced the Commission For Air Quality Management in the National Capital Region and adjoining areas bill, 2021 in the House. When the House reassembled this morning, members of some opposition parties, including the Congress, started shouting slogans. Amidst uproar during question hour, Women and Child Development Minister Smriti Irani, AYUSH Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Forest and Environment Minister Bhupendra Yadav, and Health and Family Welfare Minister Mansukh Mandaviya also answered supplementary related to their respective ministries.

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla conducted the Question Hour proceedings for half an hour amid the uproar. Birla adjourned the House till 12 noon at around 11.30 pm as the uproar by opposition members continued. However, the uproar of the opposition parties continued. Seeing that the system was not in place, the Presiding Chairman adjourned the proceedings for the day at about 12:15 p.m. after a one-time adjournment. The next meeting of the House will now be held on Monday as Saturday and Sunday are holidays.
