Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is observing a day-long fast demanding Special Category Status to the State. And on that same stage Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Monday alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi stole from the people of Andhra Pradesh and gave the money to industrialist Anil Ambani.
Mr. Gandhi, who expressed support for Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s day-long fast in New Delhi demanding that the Centre fulfil all promises made during the State's bifurcation in 2014, said the Prime Minister was not following ‘raj dharma’ by denying the State the Special Category Status.
The government and Mr. Ambani have rejected Mr. Gandhi’s allegations of corruption in the Rafale fighter jet deal with France. Mr. Gandhi said at Andhra Bhavan, the venue of the hunger strike “Mr. Narendra Modi, wherever he goes, he goes to Andhra Pradesh, he lies about special status. He goes to the Northeast, he tells another lie over there. He goes to Maharashtra and he tells another lie over there. He has absolutely got no credibility left,”.
On Monday, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief N Chandrababu Naidu began his day-long fast at the Andhra Bhawan on Monday demanding special status for his state. Earlier, TDP chief paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat. Naidu arrived at the Rajghat along with TDP MPs and party workers and then proceeded to the Andhra Bhawan to observe a day-long fast there.
