Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to address a address the 14th foundation day festivities of the Umiya Mata temple in Gathila, Gujarat, through video conferencing, on the occasion of Ram Navami on Sunday.
The Prime Minister's Office (PMO) said the temple was opened by Modi in 2008, while he was the state's chief minister, in a statement released on Saturday. The temple trust has been carrying out numerous social and health-related activities based on his recommendations, such as providing free cataract procedures and free ayurvedic medicines to patients from the economically disadvantaged parts of society, according to the statement.
The Kadava Patidars worship Umiya Maa as their deity (kuldevi).
The Umiya Mata Temple is dedicated to Goddess Umiya, the Kadava Patidars' clan deity or kuldevi. It is located in the heart of Unjha, Gujarat's Mehsana district, and attracts thousands of visitors every day.
