New Delhi, India - In a major move aimed at fostering skill development and employment opportunities in rural Maharashtra, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate 511 Pramod Mahajan Grameen Kaushalya Vikas Kendras via video conferencing on Thursday, October 19 evening. These centers, named after the late BJP leader Pramod Mahajan, will be strategically dispersed across 34 rural districts in the state.

The Prime Minister's Office, in a statement, announced that these skill development centers will offer training programs spanning various sectors, catering to the rural youth and equipping them with valuable skills. "Each Kendra is designed to train approximately 100 young individuals in at least two vocational courses, with training facilitated by industry partners and agencies affiliated with the National Skill Development Council," the PMO elaborated.

The establishment of these centers is expected to be a game-changer, enabling the region to make substantial progress in nurturing a more competent and skilled workforce. According to the PMO, these centers will play a pivotal role in furthering the Prime Minister's vision for skill development, which has been a subject of paramount importance.

Mangal Prabhat Lodha, the Minister of Skills, Employment, Entrepreneurship, and Innovation in Maharashtra, expressed his enthusiasm about the initiative, stating, "Until now, there were no skill development centers in 28 thousand gram panchayats in Maharashtra. Skill development is a subject of great significance to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In alignment with his vision, we have taken the step to initiate skill development centers in over 500 gram panchayats."

Minister Lodha underscored the pivotal role of these skill development centers in preventing rural youth from migrating to cities in search of employment opportunities. He further emphasized that the number of such centers would be expanded in the future, continuing to bridge the gap between urban and rural employment prospects. This initiative not only aims to empower the rural population but also strengthens the foundation for economic growth in Maharashtra's rural heartlands.
