Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to kickstart a slew of projects worth Rs 3,161 crore during his upcoming visit to Jammu and Kashmir on February 20. These projects, which include infrastructure and development initiatives, aim to bolster the region's growth and prosperity.

During his visit, PM Modi will also officially launch the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) election campaign for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls in the Union Territory (UT). With five Lok Sabha seats in Jammu and Kashmir, the BJP, holding two seats currently, aims to expand its presence in the region.

The Prime Minister will address a public rally at the M.A. Stadium in Jammu city, expected to draw a crowd of over one lakh people. Notably, there is heightened anticipation among the Pahari community, recently granted Scheduled Tribe (ST) status, to attend this rally.

At the M.A. Stadium, PM Modi is scheduled to lay the foundation stones and inaugurate projects worth Rs 3,161 crore. Additionally, he will distribute appointment letters to youths and engage with the public through a video conferencing program.

One of the highlights of the visit is the partial inauguration of the ambitious Jammu-Srinagar train route, with a symbolic journey covering 48.5 kilometers beyond Banihal town. This inauguration, conducted virtually by the Prime Minister, marks a significant milestone in the region's connectivity.

Among the projects to be inaugurated virtually are the AIIMS in Vijaypur town, the highest railway bridge in Reasi district, the Devika Rejuvenation project, Shahpur Kandi project, IIM Jammu, and various road and infrastructure projects across both divisions of Jammu and Kashmir.

Furthermore, PM Modi will lay the foundation stones for 124 new projects in the UT, spanning industrial estates, road construction, bridges, housing for Kashmiri migrants, and other vital initiatives aimed at fostering development and progress in the region.

The BJP, eyeing electoral gains, is particularly focused on the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, aiming to secure additional seats beyond its current representation in Jammu-Poonch and Udhampur-Kathua constituencies. With new delimitation of constituencies, the party is strategically targeting the south Kashmir Lok Sabha seat as well.

PM Modi's visit and the inauguration of these projects underscore the government's commitment to the development and welfare of Jammu and Kashmir, bringing tangible benefits to its residents and enhancing the region's overall growth trajectory.
